This internship is part of the Global Business Services and Global Technology division and is exclusively open to final-year students graduating in 2026.

As an Academic Tech Intern, you will gain hands-on exposure to enterprise technology systems, large-scale data platforms, digital banking applications, and cutting-edge innovation tools used across Bank of America’s worldwide operations.

Role Overview – Academic Tech Intern

The Academic Tech Intern role is part of the Global Technology division, which maintains critical systems powering retail banking, mobile banking, cybersecurity, payments processing, enterprise data, and risk management. Interns gain exposure to:

  • Immersive technology such as Virtual Reality, AI, and simulation platforms
  • Large-scale data platforms like Hadoop, Spark, Hive, Kafka, Teradata, ETL tools
  • Advanced engineering workflows including CI/CD, agile development, and enterprise automation

This internship offers an excellent foundation for students aspiring to become software engineers, data engineers, cloud developers, or AI/ML specialists.

Key Responsibilities

1. Requirements Gathering & Technical Design

  • Translate internal/external client requirements into technical specifications
  • Support business process re-engineering
  • Assist with solution design that ensures performance, maintainability, and scalability

2. Coding, Testing & Deployment

  • Write clean, testable code
  • Develop unit tests and ensure seamless integration with internal banking systems
  • Participate in CI/CD processes (branching, pull requests, issue triage, release documentation)

3. Data Processing & Documentation

  • Support data collation, modeling, and documentation of findings
  • Build tools and scripts to streamline data collection
  • Assist in Proof of Concepts (POC) for new ideas or risk mitigation

4. Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Engage with global teams across APAC, EMEA, and AMRS
  • Translate functional requirements for banking, trading, and markets
  • Assist in issue identification, escalation, and resolution

Eligibility Criteria

Educational Qualifications

Open only to final-year students graduating in 2026, pursuing:

  • M.Tech / M.E (Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Systems)
  • MCA students are also eligible

Academic Requirements

  • 80% in the last semester OR
  • CGPA 8/10 with no active backlogs

Work Experience

  • Freshers only (no prior experience required)

Required Skills

  • Fundamental understanding of programming languages: Java, C#, .NET, C++, Python
  • Strong grasp of distributed systems, databases, application frameworks
  • Hands-on exposure to SDLC: requirements analysis, coding, testing, deployment
  • Experience with Linux/Unix, Agile, JIRA, Excel
  • Strong analytical, communication, and problem-solving abilities
  • Ability to work in dynamic, global teams and handle changing priorities

Desired Skills (Good to Have)

  • Exposure to AI/ML frameworks, cloud technologies
  • Experience developing tools for automation or analytics
  • Strong quantitative and problem-solving capabilities
